Welcome to Hollywood

Another post from our New Year's trip to the Rose Parade.  We went on a bus tour of Hollywood.

It was actually pretty funny.  We had gotten to our L.A. destination from Solvang about 4 in the afternoon and they took us to the hotel to drop off our bags.  We were then told to load up that we were going to the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the evening.  Well, this was the moment that we separated the old from the really old.  Most of the tour claimed to be too tired and uninterested in Hollywood.  So they stayed at the hotel.

Those of us up for more adventure - went to Hollywood!

We found Annette's star. :)
And then mine!  I was actually really excited by this.  I didn't realize he had a star and sort of stumbled across it.
And then took a million pictures, cause - how many times am I going to see my name in concrete.

Here is the Dolby Theater.  Anyone who knows me even a little bit can probably guess how excited I was to walk into this theater.  I LOVE the Oscars.  I love watching them, I love reading all the information before hand on who is going to be nominated, etc.  I just love it all!  So to know you are walking up the same steps as Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep.  It's pretty exciting.

Speaking of Meryl Streep - she has very little feet.
Here is Annette's attempt to photobomb.
And here is Grauman's Chinese Theater.  Again, it was awesome to see such an important Hollywood landmark.

We also managed to find some really good pizza for dinner.
And here are John Wayne's boot prints.  One of my biggest problems with seeing/meeting famous people is that they are always short.  (Bono - really short!)  I know I'm taller than the average person, but sometimes I am convinced that famous people are shorter than the average person.  Well, Dad swears that when John Wayne walked into a room, he was as tall as you would expect John Wayne to be.  That being said, he had small boot prints. :(

And so ended our Hollywood excursion.  It was awesome.  A lot more fun and interesting than even I thought it would be.  Oh, and I found a gift shop that was selling publicity prints from old movies.  I literally could have spent an entire paycheck there.  Unfortunately, I had to reign it in and only came home with a head shot of Gene Kelly (signed) and a still from Anchors Aweigh.  Pretty awesome.
