One Year!

For those of you who may not know, today is my one year anniversary. It has been exactly one year since my graduation from BYU -Idaho and Rexburg . That's right, December 20, 2006 was the memorable day that I said good-bye to Rexburg and the campus that had been my home for too many years and entered the real world. All right, Ogden UT isn't exactly the "real world" but in honor of my anniversary , I thought I would reminisce for a moment and do a recap of my year. Unfortunately the only people who read my blog are quite aware of what I have done this year, but hopefully it will provide some humor . First I celebrated my release from the land of ice and snow by going to Arizona for Christmas. although it is traditional to wish for a white Christmas , there is nothing wrong with celebrating Christmas in a place that is warm enough to swim. I agree with Alita that we should spend Christmas in AZ more often, it just makes sense. Upon my return to the tundr...

My office

Image
Since none of you have come to visit me since I started working at Marketstar (Coleman and Roni don't count seeing that the building was locked) I decided that it was necessary to post some pictures of my office here on my blog. Most everything here should be familiar to you all seeing that I talk about work way more than necessary, but now you will have a visual picture to go with my talking. I know, it's exciting. I definitely have the coolest cubicle in the office building. I have appropriate shout-outs to the Beatles, Yosemite, and of course, my friend Rosie. Eat your heart out Coleman, I know yours isn't this cool. This is my friend Trina. I don't technically work for her anymore since she's on the NEG team, but i do try to say hi at least once a day. These are my teammates Denise... and Dave. (This is work Dave, not Dave Dave, in case you were confused.) Oh, and yes, Dave is a Star Wars fan. This is my new boss Brian. Granted this was on Halloween, he does...

YSA Halloween Party!!!

Image
Okay, so this event really didn't warrant exclamation points. That's being very generous. I think I've told most of you my opinion of this Young Single Adult Halloween party that I attended, so I will spare you all from reading my complaint now. You can thank me later, I know you must all be relieved. I will say this, as sad as it was that the best thing our YSA program could come up with was a Halloween Carnival in the church gym, it's sadder that Annette's singles ward did the same thing. Sorry chica , that's just pathetic! Oh, and I want to know who sold my idea of a fortune teller to Arizona because I should really get commission on that. So, here are the pictures from this most joyous of events. There were two main reasons that I actually went, well, actually three. 1- I was on the committee and had planned the Fortune Teller "booth." 2- Tina (Coleman and Roni's friend from Colorado) wanted to go. 3- I still think I have the best Hallow...

My motorcyle ride!

Image
Mom had a bit of a challenge on her hands. We agreed that she would do a birthday week again this year (for the last time, so she thinks.) Well, Mom really wanted to do special things and that gets harder when you're kid is a grownup (almost) and working full time (at least sitting in an office full time.) But she rose to the challenge quite nicely, not that any of us should be surprised. And although I didn't get my luv sac (seriously people, I do want one. :) ), she did come up with some good surprises. But I think my favorite was my motorcycle ride. I've thought for quite some time that it would be fun to ride a motorcycle. The closest I've ever come is a tiny little dirt bike that Mr. Harvey talked me into riding once. Of course he didn't tell me how to stop the dumb thing so when I was ready to get off I just stood up and let it go into the sagebrush. That was about fifteen years ago, so I thought I was due for a proper experience. Dad said I should ask Ken Ram...

Rocky Mountain National Park!!!!

Image
I have a confession to make. I love Rocky Mountain National Park! I mean, I really love it. I never thought I would find a place that would capture my heart quite like Yosemite. But Yosemite has officially met it's match. Rocky Mountain National Park is BEAUTIFUL!! Last time I went I didn't have a real camera, so this time I have tried to make up for that by taking the prettiest pictures ever. Let's see how I did. The park is set up in a similar way as Yosemite. You park your car and get on the shuttle. So that's precisely what we did. So the first place we went was Bear Lake (at least I think that's what it was called.) It's a huge lake that has a really nice level path all the way around it. Since we were with Mom, Carol and a pregnant Roni there was no way that Coleman could convince (trick) me into going on a really long hike. So the lake trail was about the extent of our hiking. Coleman decided to pretend he was a photographer. Good thing I know how to s...

Castle Valley Pagent

Image
Well, thanks to all the storm and fuss about getting my birthday and Rocky Mountain National Park blogged, I overlooked some important pictures. I don't like to do that, so everyone, back off. I'll blog when I feel like it. Okay, so that's a little harsh. I don't mind the "friendly" reminders. I was sad though when I realized that I had overlooked the Castle Valley Pageant and our weekend in Price. Of course, some might say that the only thing to do with a weekend in Price is overlook it, but after living in Hawthorne for 20 years, anywhere with a Wal -Mart impresses me. So I took pictures. I don't know if you all remember (I sure didn't until I interviewed her for a paper) that Grandma worked a good many years at J.C. Penney, first in California and then in Price. Well, it turns out that Price is such a big town, they still have that J.C. Penneys We also went out to Cleveland (the one in Utah not Ohio) and saw the house that Grandma and her family g...

My 25th Birthday!

Image
I think you all know by now that I decided that this was the birthday that was to end my youth. For some reason I never planned on being 25. This isn't to say that I thought I would be dead, or non- existent by 25, I just didn't think I would ever be 25. I know that probably doesn't make much sense, but when I realized that this was the birthday when I would suddenly be closer to 30 than 20... I freaked out. I even thought about canceling my birthday all together. Okay, stop laughing, we all know that would never happen. I did tell Mom that since I was living at home, I thought I deserved a birthday week. Since Mom actually likes doing birthday weeks almost more than I like getting them, she had no problems with this. It was pretty fun. Working every day was a little weird, but Mom really came up with some fun stuff. She even had Dell come and give me a ride on his motorcycle (pictures of that will come later.) But to start my week, we went to Colorado. Coleman and Roni k...
