In my excitement to blog the beauty of Yosemite, I almost forgot that we went to and I photographed Walker Lake! I can't believe I almost forgot. After all, it's my second most favorite place in the world (as Ashley can probably tell you.) Sunday night, we decided to go to Walker Lake and roast hot dogs . It was rather successful and we only ran into two problems, it was abnormally windy (actually, considering it was the Lake, we probably should have expected that) and Mom forgot to bring the roaster sticks. I know, I was shocked and appalled as well. So, on account of the wind, I didn't take a ton of pictures, just enough to get the point. Enjoy. As much as Dad might like to believe that we all came to visit Hawthorne just to see him, that's a very small part of the actual truth. :) We all really came to go to Yosemite, the prettiest place on Earth!!! I love Yosemite. I hadn't actually been there since the day after I graduated from high school. For those of you who still think that I'm in high school, I graduated seven years ago. I fully realize that I am getting old. We started out with a quick stop at whatever lake it is before you get to Yosemite. It was really pretty, if a tad bit chilly. After we got into the park we made the mandatory stop to see Half Dome and try to see golden marmots. The marmots didn't come out to play, but it's pretty hard for Half Dome to hide. So there it was in all of it's tall, half glory. And then since everyone insists on me sitting for pictures, I sat for a picture. I know, I look like a regular hiker-chick. After we finished with Bodie , we drove over to Bridgeport- Dad wanted to, and then we headed over to Mono Lake. Mom and I wanted Floyd and Carol to see the tofu, and we were lucky enough to get to the museum before it closed. That is still one of my favorite museums. I could watch their video over and over. We also went down to the water and a ranger Mom (sort of) knows was bird watching. There was a "black-headed" seagull and they are rare in the area, so he was documenting it. We also had him document us. :) Here's the seagull, I promise if you look close you can see him. He looked like a regular seagull wearing an executioner's hood. After Mono Lake a sane person might think that our excursion was over. No, we were only half through. We left the lake and headed toward Mammoth. Here's the moment I know you have all been waiting for. My fabulous pictures from our trip over Memorial Weekend. I apologize for not posting them sooner, I started working right before we left and have been working ever since. That's the only down side to a full-time job, no time to do my own work. :) We had an awesome time this weekend. Dad was whining about never having company at his cabin in Hawthorne, so we decided to indulge him this one time and go down for a visit. Our original plan had been to invite Alice, Mom and I thought that would be fun. But it turned out she was working (see the stuff gets in the way) so we took her parents instead. Floyd and Carol claimed they had been to Hawthorne before, but didn't remember seeing any of the good stuff. So that's where we went.
