Solvang

Alright, I'm jumping between space and time again, so hopefully those few of you who still read my blog can keep up.  If not, sorry about that.  Better luck next time.

As I talked about before on this blog, in December we went on a Rose Parade Tour.  The tour itself wasn't all that enjoyable (the person running it was a bit of a dip) but the places we saw were pretty fun.  Included in that group was Solvang, CA.  Let's add this to places in California I didn't know existed.

Solvang is a Danish town in the Santa Ynez Valley.  It's pretty adorable, full of shops, restaurants and museums.  It was also pretty interesting.  Apparently there is a bit of things in my life that are of Danish influence, who knew. :)  For example, the ribbon birds and stars that Grandpa Miller made - Danish.  Oh, and Danish chocolate is far superior to normal chocolate.  And we are all quite certain that Grandma Miller used it for her chocolates and that's why they were so good.

We did make it to one of the museums.  It was about Danish history and the history of Solvang.

Mom and I decided this is how we want the kitchen painted when we finally remodel.  Do you think we can convince Dad to do it?

This is the clock tower in the main part of town.
And this is the one authentically thatched roof in Solvang.  It's very cool.
This was a very fun town.  If any of you find yourselves driving through the Santa Ynez Valley, it's worth the stop.  Oh, and make sure you go hungry.  Their pastries really were above par!
