Tuacahn!!!

As I said on my previous post, this year for my birthday we went to St. George and the Tuacahn theater.  This year they were doing "Grease" and "The Little Mermaid".  "Grease" is a fun play and I enjoy the music, but "The Little Mermaid" was the real reason I wanted to go.  Coleman and Roni gave me the soundtrack for my birthday a few years ago and I have been in love with the music.  It's kind of ironic seeing as it's my least favorite Disney movie (okay, maybe just behind Bambi.)

Tuacahn is a GORGEOUS theater.  For those of you who don't know, it's an outdoor theater at the base of a beautiful red rock canyon.  They're also famous for flooding the stage, a perfect situation for a play like Little Mermaid.  It was awesome!

 We tried to get a picture of all four of us.  Didn't work fantastically. :)
 This was what the Little Mermaid stage looked like after the show.  They had pretty impressive sets.  You can still see some of the puddles.

 Again, we couldn't' get a good picture of all four of us.

Armed Forces Day!!!

For those of you who might be reading my blog and don't know, Armed Forces Day is May 19th. It is also the biggest town celebration Hawthorne ever has. That's the time when they do a parade and fireworks and all that jazz. It was a very big deal when we were growing up there. In fact, I marched in the AFD parade every year from the second grade until I had graduated and gone to college. Well, this year, someone had the idea that Mom or I should get to Hawthorne and surprise Dad for AFD. Well, we both talked about it and decided that I would try and go. So I immediately sent out a message to the four friends that I have and asked if anyone wanted to go for a weekend road trip. The responses I got were all pretty "mheh" so I disregarded the idea and began looking forward to a rather dull weekend. About two days before AFD weekend, I finally got some interest. Walker Lake

In my excitement to blog the beauty of Yosemite, I almost forgot that we went to and I photographed Walker Lake! I can't believe I almost forgot. After all, it's my second most favorite place in the world (as Ashley can probably tell you.) Sunday night, we decided to go to Walker Lake and roast hot dogs . It was rather successful and we only ran into two problems, it was abnormally windy (actually, considering it was the Lake, we probably should have expected that) and Mom forgot to bring the roaster sticks. I know, I was shocked and appalled as well. So, on account of the wind, I didn't take a ton of pictures, just enough to get the point. Enjoy. Mom thinks this picture sums up the characteristics of her daughters quite well. Alita is reading the paper, Annette is helping Dad and I was taking the picture. :) You can almost tell how windy it was. The water was pretty choppy.
